The Republican-controlled Senate committee on Wednesday decided to send a subpoena as part of an investigation into Hunter Biden, the son of former Vice President Joe Biden, President Donald Trump’s main re-election rival..
Senators on the Homeland Security and Public Administration Committee voted on a party-line basis. All Republicans (8) supported the resolution requiring documents relating to Biden Jr.’s work at the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, while all Democrats (6) opposed.
The proposal to send a subpoena to obtain information from Blue Star Strategies, a firm that worked with Burisma, came from the head of the committee, Ron Johnson..
“Senator Johnson should have worked overtime to save American lives – but instead he is seeking to save the president’s job,” Biden’s campaign spokesman Andrew Bates said..
